Slipped batters and a road closed to visitors
Council's natural disaster repair program lists Brush Creek Road, where a large-scale embankment failure closed the road for public safety. That slip followed the floods and storms of 2021-22, and council lists a further eight failures in need of repair. Ground that has slipped once can move again in heavy rain, so trees on those banks are checked for lean and a lifting root plate after wet weather, and trucks and chippers are set up on firm ground well back from a failed edge.
In April 2022, council named Cedar Brush Creek among three landslip sites still compromising traffic, with access reinstated for local residents but closed to the general public. When entry is limited like that, a contractor's truck, chipper or crane may not get through, so access is confirmed with council before a job here is booked, and storm clean-ups can wait on repairs.

Cedar Brush Creek questions
A big fire on record and a smaller burn
Is there a record of a big bushfire here?
Yes. The parks service's fire history maps a December 1982 wildfire of about 509 hectares, recorded without a name, and almost all of the area it burnt lies within Cedar Brush Creek. Country that has carried a fire that size can do so again, so on these blocks trees and limbs are kept back from houses and sheds, and dead trees near buildings come out.
Is the bush still burnt to reduce fuel?
It is. The fire history also records a prescribed burn named Collins HR inside Cedar Brush Creek, a small RFS burn on park land in November 2022. A burn like that trims the fuel in the bush, while the work around a house, from clearing gutters to lifting low branches, still has to be done on each block.
