A short version of what this site collects, who receives it and what you can do about it. There is no long version.
Who we are
Central Coast Tree Lopping publishes this site. The work itself is done by a local tree contractor, not by us. We answer enquiries and put you in touch.
Everything below describes what happens to the details you give us, in the order it happens.
The details you give us
On the quote form you give us your name, your phone number, your suburb, a short description of the job and your email address, if you give one.
Sent with it are which page you sent the form from, the address of the page that sent you here, the kind of browser you used, the country your connection resolves to, a one way scrambled version of your network address, the exact wording of the consent line you agreed to, the result of our automatic spam checks and how your visit to this site began, as the cookie described below records it. Your network address is scrambled one way before it is stored, so it cannot be read back, and it is kept only to separate real enquiries from automated ones.
A call to 0485 033 368 goes through Twilio, which keeps a log of the number you are calling from and the time and length of the call, unless your phone withholds your number. We do not record the call itself.
Who we give it to
Your enquiry goes to the local tree contractor we arrange this work with. They call you back about the job. That is the whole purpose of the form. The exception is an enquiry our spam checks hold back: we keep it, it is not passed on straight away, and it is passed on only if we look at it and find it is real. If you sent the form and have not heard back, ring 0485 033 368.
They pay us for passing enquiries on. You should know that before you send anything, because it is how this site earns.
Nobody else receives your details, apart from the services that store and deliver them for us, which are named below. We do not sell them, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not hand them to other businesses in the same trade.
Your consent
You give it by sending the form. There is no pre-ticked box.
You can withdraw it at any time by contacting us on the details at the bottom of this page, and we will delete what we hold. Contact the local tree contractor we arrange this work with separately if you want their copy gone too, because once the enquiry is passed on it is theirs.
If you do not want the enquiry passed on, the form is not for you.
Your details, your call
Ask and we will tell you what we hold. Ask and we will fix it if it is wrong. Ask and we will delete it. The contact is at the bottom of this page.
None of that costs anything and none of it needs a reason.
How we know where enquiries come from
When you first open this site, it saves a small file on your device called a cookie. It holds the first page you opened here, the name of the website that sent you if your browser passes that on, any campaign tag in the link you followed, and when you arrived. It holds nothing about who you are, and only this site can read it.
If you send the form, those details are stored with your enquiry so we can see which websites and searches bring in work, and the cookie is then deleted. If you never send it, the cookie deletes itself after 30 days and nothing from it is kept. It is never used for advertising. You can block or delete it in your browser settings, and the site and the form work the same without it.
How long it stays
An enquiry lives for 12 months and is then deleted, including one our spam checks held back.
So is the email we were sent about it.
If you want it gone before that, say so and it goes. No reason needed.
Either way, a deleted enquiry lingers for a while in backups and logs. Cloudflare keeps a backup of the database for 7 days and Resend keeps its email log for 30 days. Twilio keeps its own records of calls, under its own policy.
How we measure the site
Cloudflare Web Analytics tells us which pages people open, which page or site sent them here, and how fast each page loads. It stores nothing on your device, and nothing it records identifies you.
We read the totals and nothing else, and they are never used for advertising.
Where your details are stored
What you send is written to a database run by Cloudflare, and access to it is limited to the people handling enquiries.
That store is not guaranteed to be in Australia. Cloudflare places and copies it across its own network, so we cannot tell you which country a given record sits in. Ringing instead does not change that, because calls to 0485 033 368 go through Twilio, which is based in the United States.
We hear about each enquiry by email only, sent through Resend. It is based in the United States, and your details pass through its servers on the way to us. The email is kept in our email account with Google, a company in the United States.
If you are not happy
Tell us first. Ring 0485 033 368. We answer in writing and we aim to do it inside a month.
If our answer does not settle it, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner takes privacy complaints about Australian businesses. You do not need our agreement to go to them.
Updates
Any change to what we do with enquiries is written into this page and the date at the top changes. The consent wording stored with your enquiry is the wording you actually saw, so an update here does not rewrite what you agreed to.
