Tree work in Kincumber

A forest found nowhere else

Kincumber Scribbly Gum Forest is a critically endangered open forest of scribbly gum, smooth-barked apple, red bloodwood, turpentine and Sydney peppermint. The state's listing found it is not known from any conservation reserves, so what is left of it stands on council land and private blocks rather than inside a national park.

It grows on sandy soils of the Erina soil landscape, laid over sandstone. Grinding a stump in sand goes quickly until the teeth meet rock, and a big gum anchored in loose sand is most likely to go over when the ground is saturated.

How it works

From the first message to a written quote

The council question is settled before any price, and nothing is booked until you have said yes to a quote in writing.

Kincumber questions

Fire rules and the tip

Can the bushfire rule be used to clear around the house?

Not where this forest grows. The RFS says you may not clear trees or other vegetation under the 10/50 code if its online tool finds one of the listed critically endangered communities on your land, and this forest is on that list. Clearing there goes through the council instead.

Where does the green waste go from Kincumber?

Further than it used to. The Kincumber Waste Management Facility was closed to the public in 2020, so branches and logs that are not mulched on site go to the council gates at Woy Woy or Buttonderry.

Is it worth having trees checked before summer?

On a bush edge, yes. In December 2025 the council named the Brushwood fire trail complex at Kincumber among the major upgrades in its fire trail program, and on the blocks along that edge lifting low limbs and clearing the gutters is the usual work before the season.
